" Traveling with your mom (A Mother's Day special) "

Mother's Day is just around the corner and i want to write something special for the woman who serves as my inspiration in life, My NANAY VIRING.

Here's an open letter for her:

Dear Nanay,

Happy Mother's day to the most loving lola in the world.  I want to say thank you for all the unconditional love and caring you gave to us.

At a very young age I made promises to you that one day, I will take you to places and I will take care of you.

I can say, that some how i'm making it happen. Hongkong and Macau was your first out of the country trip. First time to see Mickey mouse and your magical smile  blown me away. You even whispered to me  "thank you nak", and i almost cried since you look so happy that day.  Nanay, you don't need to thank me i owe a lot.

They said, it's hard to travel with senior citizen since you can't walk that fast and you easily get tired. Yes it's true, but it was harder to raised three kids (grand kids) for more than 13 years (me and my  2 brothers)up until now actually. Devoted most of your time cooking, doing the laundry and attended the PTA meetings (Parent and Teachers Assoc.). You never get tired, despite of all the  responsibilities you have as a parent school officer, church coordinator and a baranggay official. How can I complain when you never did.

a LOLA to my baby barney =) Sweet..

After a year,I decided to take you to Davao City. Because I want you and your daughter to be reunited again. I know how much you miss her and how emotional you became when we're talking about your kids. You just miss those days when you can gather all of them in one place. But now they have their own lives and they're living thousand of miles away from you. But you don't need to worry, it will be my pleasure to get you to her because your happiness is also my happiness.

my friends are your friends too :)

Another year had past, and i heard you say "I haven't been to Boracay." few months after that i booked our trip to Boracay.  Because Nanay, your wish is my command. I just can't help but smile when you already packing your stuff even if it's couple of months away. Trying to check what clothes to wear and how you look on them. Now I'm also excited for June.. Boracay here we come =)

the blue skies and white sand of Boracay ...

Some kids nowadays finds it hard to deal with the elderly, but I'm not one of them, it's because of you.  You thought me how to be patient when things aren't going my way, you thought me how to stand on my beliefs even if others don't, you gave me support everytime I need it even though I'm not asking for it, you find time to gave me itineraries that you cut out in a magazine because you know i love to travel, you take care of us and my father without any complain even though you can not take care of yourself anymore, you never get tired listening to my travel stories because you know that what makes me happy, and you never want to leave me because you want to make it easier for me being the head of the family.

God indeed open windows when he closed the door. I may not have my mom beside me, but He gave me the best grandmother who even supersedes the role of a mother.  Nanay Viring, your not only my lola but your my bestfriend, travel buddy, mother and an adviser.

The only thing i could do now is to give it all back to you. I promise that i will take care of you the best way I can and love you for the rest of my life.

I want you to know that I'm so thankful that your my Nanay.  We love you so much Nanay Viring.  And I'm looking forward for more travels with you.

Nanay Viring, Me, Alvino and Joey (my 2 bros)

Have a Happy and Healthy Life!

Love,

Hedges

  5. aww.. I almost cried *singhot* Never ko pang na-experience magtravel with my lola because we really never had a chance. She passed away when I was a kid. All I can remember, pinapagalitan niya ko pag di natutulog sa tanghali. hihih! She rarely tell stories. You are so lucky naexperience mong magka-lola. Just like my mom, pangarap niya rin sa local destination ang Boracay. Hihihi! God bless both of you. At sana nga healthy siya lagi. First time here and definitely, this will not be the last.
